Azure Cloud Disaster Recovery for Pharmaceutical Company
Three-decade old Pharmaceutical Company based in India
Key Metrics
About the Company
A three-decade old Pharmaceutical Company based in India has three manufacturing facilities and operates in more than 50 countries.
- Number of Plants: 3
- Number of Employees: 500+
- Accreditations: EU-GMP, WHO-GMP, ISO 9001, NSF/ANSI 455-2
Requirement
The company had a primary datacentre in India hosting LOB workloads, ERP, and other apps. They needed to set up a Disaster Recovery Site for business continuity and to meet the compliance needs of different countries they operate in. They were looking for a cost-effective solution, avoiding the capital and recurring costs of a physical DR site.
- Key Goal: Most cost-effective, yet no compromise on performance (specifically RTO/RPO).
Our Solution
WinMethods proposed a Cloud Disaster Recovery Solution using Microsoft Azure Site Recovery. This solution provides the required Recovery Time Objective (RTO) of 15 minutes and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) of 15 minutes, meeting both business continuity and compliance requirements.
Conclusion
Having the relevant technical expertise and experience in implementing Cloud Solutions on Azure Platform, we were able to implement the solution in a short duration and at the lowest possible cost. Cost savings were achieved by avoiding the need for costly real estate, hardware, and software for an On-Premise Datacentre. Data is backed up to the cloud every 15 minutes, and in case of a disaster, VMs can be provisioned in less than 15 minutes. Periodic DR drills are undertaken, and reports are submitted to auditors as per compliance requirements.
