Complex M365 & Google Workspace Migration for Merged IT Firms
Newly formed organization from the merger of two mid-level IT Software Organizations
Key Metrics
About the Companies (Pre-Merger)
Two mid-level IT Software Organizations, each with global operations and 500+ users, merged to form a new Organization.
- Company A Mailboxes: 546 (Using Google Workspace)
- Company B Mailboxes: 732 (Using M365)
- Services offered: IT Software Development and Services
Requirement
Following the merger, all content (mails, files, collaboration data) from both the Google Workspace tenant and the existing Microsoft 365 tenant needed to be migrated into a single, new Microsoft 365 tenant for the newly formed organization.
- Key Goal: No disruption in mails and seamless consolidation of data.
Our Solution
WinMethods proposed migrating both the G Suite and the existing M365 content to a new Microsoft 365 platform tenant using the third-party automated migration tool, AvePoint Fly.
- Setup: Created a new M365 tenant for the merged organization and provisioned user accounts.
- Google Workspace Migration: Migrated all content from Google Workspace (Mails, GDrive data, contacts, calendars) to the respective user accounts in the new tenant using AvePoint Fly.
- M365 Tenant-to-Tenant Migration: Utilized the Tenant-to-Tenant migration feature of AvePoint Fly to migrate M365 content (Mails, OneDrive Data, Contacts, Calendars, Shared Mailboxes, Teams data) from the old M365 tenant to the corresponding accounts in the new tenant.
Conclusion
We were able to migrate the resources from both source platforms with utmost precision and without any disruption to the flow of incoming or outgoing mails during the cutover. Our Microsoft Certified Associates completed this complex project within eight weeks with utmost efficiency, ensuring no data loss and a smooth transition for the merged organization.
